Abstract

ISC's Stork project is a web-based graphical management tool with a major dependency on the PrimeNG user interface library. PrimeTek, the company behind PrimeNG, made the decision to end their open source project, and relicense under a commercial license. The PrimeNG open source repository was archived on June 29, 2026.
There is a group forming to support a fork of PrimeNG, and there are some alternative web user interface libraries. Given the rate at which new security vulnerabilities are being found right now, with LLM code analysis, we don't feel we have much time to adopt a new, maintained, open source user interface library. We have just started the research and evaluation of our alternatives, and the refactoring won't be over by the time of this RIPE meeting, but we are happy to share our evaluation process and the experience we are getting through this transition. This is not the first time a major open source project has had to change its business model from open source and it won't be the last.
