Visa Information

You can check online to see whether you need a visa to enter Bulgaria. If you require a visa, we recommend applying well in advance of your travel date to allow sufficient time for processing. We can provide you with an invitation letter upon request after you have registered for the meeting.

Bulgaria is part of the Schengen Area. Since 1 January 2025, Bulgaria has been fully integrated into the Schengen Area, including the removal of checks at internal land borders. Bulgaria also issues Schengen visas for short stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

Visa requirements depend on your nationality and the type of travel document you hold. Nationals of EU/EEA countries and Switzerland generally do not require a visa to enter Bulgaria for short stays. Nationals of certain other countries may also be exempt from the visa requirement, while citizens of countries subject to the EU visa requirement will need to apply for a Schengen short-stay visa (Type C).

For the most up-to-date information and to check the requirements applicable to your nationality, please consult the official Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.

If you are travelling to Sofia via another Schengen country, you will normally not encounter internal border controls. However, if your journey involves transit through a country outside the Schengen Area, you should check whether you require a transit visa for that country. Your airline or the relevant embassy/consulate can provide further information.

If you require a visa to attend the meeting, please contact us after completing your registration and we will provide an invitation letter to support your visa application.
