Abstract
The overhead of generating, deploying, and maintaining prefix filters for BGP edge filtering is high. It also places financial and operation costs on edge routers. Meanwhile, ROA coverage has been steadily growing for years. When can networks remove this overhead and simplify their operations, by removing prefix filtering completely?
In this talk, data from various sources is pulled together to show that we have already reached the point in time when we can finally stop deploying IRR derived prefix filtering, and make the first major step towards only using RPKI derived data for edge filtering.
