Abstract
The MANRS Actions for network operators have not been substantially revised since 2014. Meanwhile, the adoption of RPKI has grown significantly, its operational experience has deepened, and new routing security technologies are being tested and increasingly deployed. A 2026 MANRS community survey identified clarity of implementation and auditing requirements, and alignment with current practices as the top priorities for review.
This talk presents the progress of the MANRS Network Operators Program Review Working Group, which is developing an updated normative specification through an open, consensus-based process. It will cover the key areas that were under discussion – including Route Origin Validation, registration in the IRR and RPKI, prefix filtering and anti-spoofing – and the reasoning behind decisions about what belongs in a base standard versus best current practices and implementation guidelines.
The talk will also present an impact assessment: how the revised baseline would impact current MANRS participants, and how the updated actions position MANRS globally against common operational practice. Community input is welcome as the document moves toward the final call.
