This tutorial aims to open the world of digital coherent optics ("DCO") for those people who never used these types of optics.
We will present the physical basis of operation for coherent optics, explain the different types, form factors and interfaces, in order to enable the audience to navigate spec sheets and catalogs for these types of optics, understand their use cases, and make the right choices in network equipment.
